In plain words

When good people meet good people, they earn a profit. Facing the Guru, they receive the greatness of the Naam.

Serving the Guru, all sorrows are wiped away. Nanak says: the Naam is our friend and companion.

Good-hearted people make each other richer, and the Naam turns out to be your truest friend.
The deeper layer

Good people make each other better, and the Naam is your friend and companion.

Gunee gunee mil means the good meeting the good. Together they earn laahaa, a profit.

Think of a study group where everyone is kind and curious. Each person leaves knowing more than when they came. The Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — works like that.

A gurmukh is a person who turns toward the Guru. Such people find the greatness of the Naam.

Saglay dookh miteh gur sayvaa: serving the Guru wipes away every sorrow. And the last line is warm. Naanak naam sakhaa-ee: Nanak says the Naam is our friend and companion. It stays with us everywhere.

A Question to Sit With

Who makes you a better person just by being around them?
