Always With Me

ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਪਿ ॥
tayray bhagat bhagtan kaa aap.
Your devotees belong to You, and You belong to Your devotees.
ਅਪਣੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
apnee mahimaa aapay jaap.
You Yourself inspire them to chant Your Praises.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
jee-a jant sabh tayrai haath.
All beings and creatures are in Your Hands.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਥਿ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੨੯॥
naanak kay parabh sad hee saath. ||4||16||29||
Nanak's God is always with him. ||4||16||29||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Your devotees belong to You, and You belong to Your devotees. You Yourself move them to sing Your praise.

Every being and every creature is in Your hands. Nanak's Lord is always with him.

The love between you and the One runs both ways.
The deeper layer

The One and the ones who love the One belong to each other, and the One is always near.

Tayray bhagat bhagtan kaa aap — Your devotees are Yours, and You are theirs. A bhagat is someone who loves the One with their whole heart. The belonging goes both ways. It is like a family. You belong to your family, and your family belongs to you.

Even the praise comes from the One. Apnee mahimaa aapay jaap — You Yourself help them sing Your praise.

Then the shabad gathers everything up. Every living thing rests in the One's hands. And the last words bring comfort. Naanak kay prabh sad hee saath — Nanak's Lord is always with him. The One is always near.
