In plain words

The one who tears others down finds no way to freedom.

They eat only what they planted themselves.

They are worse than a thief, a cheater or a gambler.

The one who tears others down puts a crushing load on their own head.

You harvest what you plant, so plant kindly.
The deeper layer

You gather what you plant.

"aap beej aapay hee khaahi" means "they plant the seed, and they eat what grows." Children already know this idea: what you do comes back to you. This pattern of actions and their results is called karma. Plant kindness, and kindness grows back. Plant scorn, and scorn grows back.

The verse also says the slanderer is worse than a thief, a cheater or a gambler. It says they load an unbearable weight onto their own head. Ill-will is a load we choose to carry. No one asked us to pick it up, so we can also choose to put it down.

A Question to Sit With

What is a small kind seed you could plant today?
