Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

With my two hands pressed together, I offer this prayer.

My soul, my body and all I own belong to the One.

The One is the Creator, my Master.

Millions of times over, I give myself to the One.

Offering thanks can begin with a single, honest, quiet gesture.
The deeper layer

Your life, your body and everything you have belong to the One who made you.

Du-ay kar jor kara-o ardaas: with two hands pressed together, I offer my ardaas, my prayer. Jee-o pind dhan tis kee raas: soul, body and wealth are the One's own property, like a trust placed in your hands. So-ee mayraa su-aamee karnaihaar: that One is my Master, the Creator.

Kot baar jaa-ee balihaar: millions of times I give myself over, the way a heart overflowing with love and thanks wants to give everything.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you feel so grateful for that you'd want to say thank you for it?
