Every Worry Taken Away

ਅਚਿੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖੁ ॥
achint parabhoo Dhur likhi-aa laykh.
Spontaneously, God has recorded my pre-ordained destiny.
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਏਕੁ ॥
achint mili-o parabh thaakur ayk.
Spontaneously, the One Lord and Master God has met me.

Spontaneously, all my cares and worries have been taken away.

parabh naanak naanak naanak ma-ee. ||8||3||6||
Nanak, Nanak, Nanak, has merged into the Image of God. ||8||3||6||

In plain words

All on its own, the One wrote the story of my life from the very start.

All on its own, the One Master has met me.

All on its own, every care and worry has gone.

Nanak, Nanak, Nanak has melted into the One.

When the heart fills with the One, the anxious sense of "me" quietly dissolves.
The deeper layer

When worry is gone, the little "me" melts into the One.

This is the close. "achint parabhoo Dhur likhi-aa laykh" — the One has written my laykh, the story of my life. Here it comes as a gift of grace. Then the One Master meets me. "chint achintaa saglee ga-ee" — every worry is gone.

The last line says "Nanak, Nanak, Nanak" three times. Nanak has merged into the One. The separate self, haumai (the "me, me, me" feeling), melts away. Think of a drop of rain falling into the sea. It is not lost. It becomes the sea.

A Question to Sit With

What worry would you most like to set down and leave behind?
