O Nanak, you shall be kept in peace here, and hereafter, you shall celebrate with the Lord. ||2||

In plain words

Here's the one instruction that matters: keep your heart turned toward the One.

The One is always right here, and turning toward it clears away the fog of doubt.

Think of the Name as sweet, healing medicine — go ahead and take it!

Make that love your steady practice, and you'll be at peace now and always.

When your mind is foggy with worry, filling it with something good is like gentle medicine that clears things up.
The deeper layer

A warm Shalok that frames remembrance as medicine: "the Name of the Lord is Ambrosial Nectar — take this healing medicine!" (aukhadh — remedy). Doubt is the sickness ("He tears away the veil of doubt") and the Name is the cure that "installs His Light within the mind." The one command that matters is simply to turn toward the One, who "is ever-present." And the reward is both worlds: "kept in peace here, and hereafter you shall celebrate." For a child: when your mind is foggy with worry or doubt, filling it with something good and true is like taking gentle medicine that clears things up.

A Question to Sit With

What's a thought or memory that works like 'medicine' to clear away your worries?
