A Love That Never Wears Off

aiso jaan bha-ay man aanad aan na bee-o kartaa.
Knowing this, my mind has become blissful; there is no other Creator.
Says Nanak, the Guru has become kind to me; my love for the Lord shall never wear off. ||2||8||94||

In plain words

Knowing this, my mind is full of joy — there is no other maker, only the One behind it all.

Nanak says: the Guru has been kind to me, and this love for the One is a colour that never washes out.

Love for the One is a colour that never washes out.
The deeper layer

Knowing the One fills the mind with joy.

Aiso jaan bha-ay man aanad means knowing this, my mind filled with aanad, joy. Aan na bee-o kartaa means there is no other, no second Creator. That is a plain way of saying Ik Onkar: there is One.

Kaho naanak gur bha-ay da-i-aaraa means says Nanak, the Guru has been kind to me. And then: har rang na kabhoo lahtaa, the color of the Lord's love never comes off. Think of a favorite shirt whose color never fades, no matter how many times it goes through the wash. Love for what is real is that kind of color.

A Question to Sit With

What is a feeling you hope never fades?
