Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Remembering the Naam is worth a million efforts.
Join the Sangat and sing the praises of the One, and even the fear of death loses its hold.
Sometimes the quiet, steady thing outweighs a hundred busy ones.
Remembering the Naam does the work of countless efforts. simrat naam kot jatan bhay — remembrance worth countless efforts.
saaDhsang mil har gun gaa-ay — praise sung in the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. jamdootan ka-o taraas ahay — the messengers of death are the ones who grow afraid; the fear of death loses its grip, a comfort for everyone who sings.
A Question to Sit With
When has a small, steady habit done more than a big rush of effort?
