jan naanak daasan daas kahee-at hai mohi karahu kirpaa thaakur apunee. ||4||28||114||
Servant Nanak is said to be the slave of His slaves; O my Lord and Master, please bless me with Your Mercy. ||4||28||114||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Nanak says: I am known as the servant of Your servants -- the humblest place is the one I want.

Pour Your kindness over me, my Master.

Being a small helper in something good and large brings joy.
The deeper layer

daasan daas -- servant of servants, the lowest place chosen freely. Rather than self-lowering, this is the joy of being useful and small in a big, good thing. thaakur -- the One who keeps and holds. Closes at ||114||.

A Question to Sit With

When did helping quietly, with no one noticing, feel good?
