Taste It and See How Sweet the Name Is

har har naam amrit har meethaa har santahu chaakh dikhahu.
The Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is so sweet; O Saints of the Lord, taste it, and see.
gurmat har ras meethaa laagaa tin bisray sabh bikh rasahu. ||3||
Under Guru's Instruction, the Lord's essence seems so sweet; through it, all corrupt sensual pleasures are forgotten. ||3||

In plain words

The Name of the One is nectar-sweet, companions — go on, taste it and see for yourself.

Through the Guru's guidance the Name turns sweet on the tongue, and once you have tasted it, the flat, harmful flavors you used to crave just stop appealing.

Taste the Name's sweetness and the flat, harmful flavors simply stop appealing.
The deeper layer

Chaakh dikhahu — taste and see — makes the teaching a direct experiment. Once the true sweetness is known, the bikh ras (harmful flavors) lose their pull on their own — a positive displacement, not a forced renunciation.

A Question to Sit With

When you found something good, what lesser thing did you stop wanting all on its own?
