The Ache to Be Close

ਪੀਰ ਗਈ ਬਾਧੀ ਮਨਿ ਧੀਰਾ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਅਨਦ ਧੁਨੀ ॥

Pain is gone, and my mind is comforted; the music of bliss fascinates me.

The yearning to meet my Beloved God has welled up within me. I cannot live without Him, even for an instant. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The pain is gone and my mind is comforted; a music of joy has taken hold of me.

A longing to meet the One I love has welled up, and I cannot rest even a moment away.

Missing someone you love is a sign of how much they matter.
The deeper layer

peer ga-ee, man dheeraa -- pain gone, mind steadied. anad dhunee -- the music of bliss. upji-o chaa-o -- eagerness welling up; the longing here is happy and alive, an ache that is close to joy.

A Question to Sit With

Who do you miss when you are apart, in a way that shows how much you care?
