The Wealth of Those Who Have Nothing

You have saved so many devotees, so many humble servants; so many silent sages contemplate You.

anDhulay tik nirDhan Dhan paa-i-o parabh naanak anik gunee. ||2||2||127||
The support of the blind, the wealth of the poor; Nanak has found God, of endless virtues. ||2||2||127||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You have carried so many across, so many who love You; countless quiet seekers hold You in mind.

You are a walking stick for the one who cannot see the path, and riches for the one who has nothing at all -- Nanak says, I have found the One of endless goodness.

True support goes first to whoever the world leaves out.
The deeper layer

anik bhagat... taaray -- countless devotees carried across. andhulay tik, nirdhan dhan -- the staff for one who cannot see the way, wealth for the one with nothing: images of support for those the world overlooks. anik gunee -- of endless virtues. Closes at ||127||.

A Question to Sit With
