Whatever you wish for, you shall receive, chanting the Word of the Lord's Name, under Guru's Instruction. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

People of the One, see the Guru with your own eyes.

Whatever you wish for, you will receive, as you speak the Naam the way the Guru teaches.

When your wishes line up with the One, you find you already have what you wanted.
The deeper layer

Look at the Guru with your own eyes, and what you wish for will come.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad.

Jo ichhahu so-ee fal paavhu — whatever you wish, that fruit you will receive. This is not a magic wishing well. Read with the verses that follow, the wish that gets granted is the one that has lined up with the One. Think of a kite: it flies best when it goes with the wind.

The Guru is to be seen nainee, with your own eyes. That makes it close and real, right here, right now.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you deeply want that would still be good even if it looked different than you pictured?
