I shall live under the protection of the True Guru. By Guru's Grace, I shall attain the Court of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

The Naam is the support of the One's people.

I will stay under the Guru's shelter. By the Guru's grace, I reach the One's door.

*Lean on the Naam; it holds your whole weight.*
The deeper layer

The Name is the one thing we can lean on with our whole weight.

This is the pause line, the Rahao, the center of the shabad.

Jan kee tayk har naam tika-ee-aa means the Lord's Name is the tayk, the support, of His people. Think of a walking stick on a steep trail. You lean on it with your whole weight, and it holds.

Satgur kee Dhar laagaa jaavaa means I will stay under the True Guru's shelter. Gur kirpaa tay har dar lahee-aa means by the Guru's grace, I reach the Lord's dar, His door. The door is reached by grace. It is received, not earned. That is the steady note of this whole shabad.

A Question to Sit With

What is the one thing you can always lean on when everything else wobbles?
