The Stream That Flows Within

ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਰਸਿ ਰਸਾਲ ਰਸਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਵਈਆ ॥
har kai rang rataa man gaavai ras rasaal ras sabad rava-ee-aa.
Imbued with the Lord's Love, my mind sings His Praise, joyfully chanting the Shabad, the source of nectar and bliss.
nij ghar Dhaar chu-ai at nirmal jin pee-aa tin hee sukh lahee-aa. ||6||
The stream of immaculate purity flows through the home of the self within; one who drinks it in, finds peace. ||6||

In plain words

Colored through with love, the heart sings, and every word tastes sweet, like nectar.

A stream of clear, pure sweetness flows from the home deep inside you -- and whoever drinks from it finds peace.

*A stream of sweetness is already flowing inside you -- drink from it.*
The deeper layer

A clean stream flows inside you, and whoever drinks from it finds peace.

Har kai rang rataa man gaavai means the mind, dyed in the Lord's love, sings. Ras rasaal ras sabad rava-ee-aa means it repeats the Word, the source of sweetness and joy. Ras means a sweet taste.

Nij ghar Dhaar chu-ai at nirmal means a very pure stream flows in nij ghar, your own home within. Think of a spring in the woods that bubbles up by itself. Nobody has to fill it. Jin pee-aa tin hee sukh lahee-aa means the one who actually drinks is the one who finds peace. The source is already inside and already flowing. We only need to drink.

A Question to Sit With

Where inside you can you find calm when you go looking for it?
