Saturday — No Omen Rules a Turned Heart

chhanichharvaar sa-un saasat beechaar.
Saturday: Contemplating good omens and the Shaastras,
ha-umai mayraa bharmai sansaar.
in egotism and self-conceit, the world wanders in delusion.
manmukh anDhaa doojai bhaa-ay.
The blind, self-willed manmukh in engrossed in the love of duality.
jam dar baaDhaa chotaa khaa-ay.
Bound and gagged at death's door, he is beaten and punished.
gur parsaadee sadaa sukh paa-ay.
By Guru's Grace, one finds lasting peace.
sach karnee saach liv laa-ay. ||8||
He practices Truth, and lovingly focuses on the Truth. ||8||

In plain words

Saturday. Some people spend their days hunting for lucky signs and unlucky omens, sure that the right day or the right star will fix everything.

But chasing omens from the outside, while the heart stays proud and divided, just keeps you wandering and unsettled -- no calendar can steady a restless heart.

When you become open to grace instead, a lasting peace arrives. Then every day is a good day, because you are living from the truth.

No lucky day can steady a restless heart -- but a heart turned toward the truth makes every day good.
The deeper layer

chhanichharvaar, Saturday. sa-un saasat -- astrology, omens, and the almanacs: treated respectfully but firmly redirected -- the lucky-day search is not where peace lives. The way out of that wandering is gur parsaadee sadaa sukh -- lasting peace by grace. This is the Vaar Sat's sharpest word on the calendar: under grace, every day is equal.

A Question to Sit With

Do you ever feel like you need a lucky something to do well? Where does steadiness come from?
