A quiet voice tells me: you are still young and fresh — don't go running off in every direction. Stay close to the One.
And I answer: yes, I will stay. Loving the One feels good to me. I get to touch what can't be touched and speak what can't be spoken, just by singing with an easy, happy heart.
When I taste the sweetness of the Name, the True One loves me. Nanak says: the Guru gives me the Word as a gift, and I turn it over in my mind.
You are young, so stay close to the One and do not wander.
Sach navaylrhee-ay joban baalee raam means truly, young bride, your youth keeps you innocent. Aa-o na jaa-o kahee apnay sah naalee raam means do not run off here and there; stay with your Beloved. Think of a little one at a busy fair holding a parent's hand. There is so much to see, and holding on keeps you safe.
She answers that she will stay. She calls herself the One's daasee, a helper. It means staying close in glad service, never being forced. AgaaDh boDh akath kathee-ai means she knows the unknowable and speaks the unspoken. That is the lovely puzzle of being close to the endless One.
Raam naam rasaal rasee-aa means she tastes the sweetness of the Lord's Name, and the True One loves her. Gur sabad dee-aa daan kee-aa means the Guru gives her the Word as a gift. It is received, not earned, and she thinks it over with care.
What is something you love so much it's hard to put into words?
