Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I am struck silent with wonder, gazing at the goodness of the One who never fades.
It took me by the hand and set me free from what used to bind me with fear. Holding my arm, it made me its own, and a little seed inside me began to sprout.
The old clinging and confusion ran off, and a clean, bright day dawned. One kind look, and the heavy fog in my thinking lifted. Nanak prays: I am washed clean; I have met the One who never fades.
Bisman bisam — utterly wonder-struck: this is vismaad, close cousin to the awe inside Waheguru. The literal kat jam kee faasee (cutting the noose of Death) means being set free from what bound me with fear. Ankur udot: the sprout rises. Malan moh bikaar naaThay: clinging and confusion run off. Darisat Dhaaree: the Glance of Grace, received not earned. Durmat naasee: the fog of poor thinking lifts.
When has someone's kindness suddenly changed how you saw everything?
