The One is inside every living being, and is the true friend of everyone who loves.
All of it rests in the One's care, and in the heart that loves there is a settled happiness.
The One is the companion who never leaves, so those who love can rest without worry.
The One belongs to all alike -- so hold that closeness in your mind.
No one can rival the One; those who set themselves up against it only tire themselves out.
The second numbered Pauri (Guru Ram Das). Its warmth is the point: sabhnaa jee-aa vich har aap -- the One is inside all beings, the mit (friend) of the loving. The closing line -- tudh aparh ko-ay na sakai, sabh jhakh jhakh pavai jharh -- is the Vaar's first sounding of a motif it will repeat: rivalry and ill-will simply exhaust themselves. It is rendered here not as anyone being struck down, but as the natural wearing-out of a heart set against reality -- ill-will unraveling on its own.
What does it feel like to rest, knowing you are held rather than having to prove yourself?
