In plain words

Be glad, and give your whole heart to the One -- love that is aimed at a single place.

When you do, the old ache of coming and going fades, and you rest inside what is real.

There is a steady joy waiting for anyone who walks in step with the Guru's way.

Sit in the Sangat, sing with love, and let the praise keep flowing.

Nanak says: beautiful are the ones who, turned toward the Guru, are gathered into the Oneness.

Joy that lasts comes from loving the One and sitting in the Sangat.
The deeper layer

A Guru Amar Das shalok, and the fourth "Bilaaval" meditation in a row -- each one redefining the raag's joy as an inner condition. Aykas si-o liv laa-ay (attune to the One) is the whole instruction. Satsangtee bahi bhaa-o kar -- "sit in the Sangat and do it with love" -- is the Vaar's social heart: goodness is caught in the Sangat. Sohnay (beautiful) is reserved, as always in this Vaar, for the inner condition, never the outer show.

Satsangtee points to the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the people you feel more like your best self around?
