Every day, he rises early, and brings a fresh clay pot; he passes his life embellishing and glazing it.
ਤਾਨਾ ਬਾਨਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਲਪਟਿਓ ॥੧॥
taanaa baanaa kachhoo na soojhai har har ras lapti-o. ||1||
He does not think at all of worldly weaving; he is absorbed in the subtle essence of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Every morning there is work at the loom waiting — the threads, the clay, the daily grind of the family trade.

But my heart keeps drifting somewhere sweeter. I get so absorbed in the One that the ordinary chores fade into the background.

When something fills your heart, the ordinary fades into the background.
The deeper layer

This is Kabir the weaver (koree). taanaa baanaa — the warp and weft of weaving; he has lost the thread because har har ras, the sweet essence of the One, has absorbed him. The workshop is the setting; devotion is the current running underneath.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you get so absorbed in that you lose track of everything else?
