Your Light in Every Heart

ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
agam agochar alakh apaaraa chintaa karahu hamaaree.
O Lord, inaccessible, unfathomable, invisible and infinite: please, take care of me!
jal thal mahee-al bharipur leenaa ghat ghat jot tumHaaree. ||2||
In the water, on the land and in sky, You are totally pervading. Your Light is in each and every heart. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are beyond reach, beyond figuring-out, unseen and without any limit, and still I ask: please, take care of me.

You fill the water, the land, and the sky. Your Light glows inside every single heart, mine included. So the One I cannot see is never far away.

The One you cannot see is also the closest thing there is, alight in every heart.
The deeper layer

agam agochar alakh apaaraa: inaccessible, imperceptible, unseen, infinite. chintaa karahu hamaaree: please carry my care. jal thal mahee-al bharipur leenaa: fully pervading water, land, and the space between. ghat ghat jot tumHaaree: Your Light in each and every heart. Here is the paradox: the One beyond all reach is also the nearest thing there is, alight inside every being.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you remember that something can be unseen and still very near?
