In plain words

You are where peace is kept — a whole treasure-chest of calm — and Your good qualities are more than anyone could ever count.

I come to You with nothing and no one else to lean on, and I step inside Your shelter. Be kind, and let me keep my mind on You.

You can come to the One exactly as you are — with empty hands — and step straight into shelter.
The deeper layer

This is a child coming to a parent with empty hands and asking to be held.

Guru Arjan calls the One sukh niDhaan, "the treasure of peace." Picture a chest where all the calm in the world is kept. Agnat gun means "good qualities too many to count." That is not a math fact. It is wonder, like looking up at a sky full of stars.

Then comes anaath, "orphan." It means someone with no one else to lean on. The seeker comes just as they are, with nothing in their hands, into sarnaa-ee, the One's shelter. They are not asking for pay for work done. They are asking for kindness, and kindness is a gift.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you go, or wish you could go, when you feel like you have nowhere to lean?
