In plain words

The lucky ones are the people who live in the Sangat. Holding the pure Name, their minds fill up with light.

The old ache of coming and going eases in them, and no fear casts a shadow over their days. Nanak says: this nearness comes to those whose hearts have turned, glad, toward the One.

The Sangat fills the mind with light and takes the fear-shadow out of the day.
The deeper layer

The Sangat fills the mind with light.

Vadbhaagee means "very lucky." The lucky ones live in santsangat, the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. There they think on the Name, which the verse calls amrit, sweet nectar that gives life. And their minds fill with light, pargaaso.

The verse says the pain of birth and death is cut away, and the fear of jam, death's messenger, comes to an end. Put simply, the old ache of coming and going eases, and no fear hangs over the day. It is like a child who stops fearing the dark once a parent is in the next room.

Jo parabh apnay bhaanay — "those who please the One." This does not mean the One plays favorites. It means those whose hearts have turned toward the One and flow with the One's way.

A Question to Sit With

After time with the right people, does the world ever look a little brighter? Why might that be?
