Just hearing about people who know the One puts life back into me — their stories are like fresh air.
Their minds are soaked through with the Name. I ask to serve the One's people. Nanak says: here is all I ask, my Master — let me get to see Your people.
Just hearing about good people keeps me alive.
Sun sun jeevaa means "I live by hearing and hearing." Listening to stories of people who truly know the One is like fresh air. It feeds the heart. Japji Sahib calls this kind of listening, Suniai, a blessing too.
Those people keep the Name close. They think on it, they speak of it, and their minds are soaked in it.
Then comes a surprise. The seeker does not ask to be served. Sayvak jan kee sayvaa maagai — "I ask to serve Your servants." Humility has turned into a hope.
The closing prayer, tayray jan daykhan paavaa, asks to see the One's humble servants. It does not ask to meet the famous or the grand. It asks to meet the quietly good. In Gurbani, the ordinary kind person is holy.
Who is someone whose company always leaves you feeling more alive?
