The one the Guru is kind to gets to serve the Guru. The Guru's presence bears fruit and is full of every good power. Nanak says: the Guru is the Supreme One, always present, right here, forever and ever.
Meeting the true Guru lights you up inside.
The Satgur is the True Guru, the teacher who brings you into the light. Satgur pooraa jay milai... so jan hot nihaalaa — whoever meets the perfect Guru glows with joy.
Then comes a gentle point. Gur kee sayvaa so karay... jis no ho-ay da-i-aalaa — only the one who has received kindness gets to serve the Guru. Even the wish to help is a gift that comes first. It is like a friend who teaches you to ride a bike. The chance to learn came from their care.
Last, sadaa sadaa hajooray — the Guru is always present, forever. The Guru and the One are not two. The teaching and where it comes from are the same.
