The Lotus Feet of the Guru bring peace and shelter. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Life keeps swinging — good days, hard days, round and round, coming and going — and it can leave you tired and restless.

But there is a place to set it all down: the shelter of the Guru. It gives your heart a home to rest in.

When the ups and downs leave you tired, the Guru gives your heart a shelter to rest in.
The deeper layer

Life swings between pain and pleasure, coming and going, round and round, and that can wear you out. Charan kamal gur aasram dee-aa — the Guru's lotus feet give aasram, a resting-place, a shelter. After all the swinging, you arrive at rest.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you go to rest when life has been swinging you up and down?
