O Nanak, holding me by the arm, the True Guru has saved me. ||4||3||8||

In plain words

The world can feel like a hot, churning sea — so much trouble, so much heat, and it is easy to feel like you are going under.

Nanak says: the True Guru reached out, took me firmly by the arm, and carried me across to safety.

The Guru takes you by the arm and carries you to safety.
The deeper layer

The world is like a hot, churning sea of trouble — agan saagar, an ocean of fire. The rescue is tender and physical: baah pakar satgur nistaaraa — the True Guru takes you by the arm and carries you across. Grace is a hand that grips and lifts.

A Question to Sit With

Can you remember a time someone reached out at just the right moment and kept you from going under?
