Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Full of hope, I have come to ask of You, my Lord.

Just seeing You, the courtyard of my heart shines.

Come with hope and open hands, and just turning toward the One makes the inside of you brighter.
The deeper layer

Everything here is hopeful asking: kar aasaa aa-i-o prabh maagan — nurturing hope, I have come to beg. What is asked for cannot be self-manufactured; it is received. Tumh paykhat sobhaa mayrai aagan — merely by beholding You, the inner courtyard is adorned. The darshan, the seeing, is itself the beautifying.

A Question to Sit With

What makes the inside of you feel brighter — not your room, but your heart?
