The Siddhas, the seekers, house-holders and Yogis have forsaken their homes and left. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Listen, my mind: look inside yourself and think over what is true.

Siddhas and seekers, householders and yogis: all of them have left their homes behind.

Look within, and build your heart on what is true.
The deeper layer

Stop, and look at what is true.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the whole shabad, the line everything else circles around.

Sun mayree mansaa manai maahi sat daykh beechaar — listen, and think this over in your own mind. Then the verse points to every kind of person on a spiritual path. Siddhas were people known for great inner powers. Seekers practice hard. Householders raise families and go to work. Yogis train body and mind. The verse says they all left their homes behind. In their own way, each learned not to cling to what passes.

The lesson is the same on every path. No single group owns this truth. It belongs to everyone who looks honestly.

A Question to Sit With

What lasts, and what slips away? How can you tell the difference?
