You are my Merciful Lord and Master; I am filled with all faults. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Who else would I ask, Beloved, but You?

You are my kind Master, and I come with all my rough edges.

The right place to bring your rough edges is somewhere kind.
The deeper layer

Kindness is the place to bring your rough edges.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Kahee-ai kaa-ay pi-aaray tujh binaa — whom else would I ask, Beloved, but You? Tum da-i-aal su-aamee sabh avgan hamaa — You are the kind Master, and the faults are all mine. Avgan means faults, the rough edges everyone carries. Your mercy meets them.

A Question to Sit With

Who is the one person you would turn to no matter what?
