Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

By the Guru's grace, the One comes to live in the mind.

When the feeling of two-ness goes, you come to know the One.

The One is known in the moment the feeling of separateness quietly dissolves.
The deeper layer

By the Guru's grace, gur parsaad, the One comes to live in the mind, as a gift.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad, the line everything else turns around.

Then comes the key word, dubiDhaa. It means two-ness: the split feeling of "me over here, everything else over there." Picture a fogged-up window between you and the garden. You don't pull the garden closer. The fog lifts, and the garden was there all along.

In the same way, knowing the One is not a prize we win. It arrives as a gift, the moment the feeling of being split apart goes away.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt so connected to something that the line between you and it seemed to disappear?
