Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:
ਅਟਲ ਬਚਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨਾ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥
atal bachan saaDhoo janaa sabh meh paragtaa-i-aa.
The words of the Holy are eternal and unchanging; this is apparent to everyone.
ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
jis jan ho-aa saaDhsang tis bhaytai har raa-i-aa. ||1||
That humble being, who joins the Saadh Sangat, meets the Sovereign Lord. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The words of the Guru's people never change, and everyone can see it.

Whoever joins the Sangat meets the One who rules over everything.

The truest words are the ones that stay true no matter what.
The deeper layer

The words of holy people never change, and the Sangat leads us to the One.

Atal bachan saadhoo janaa means the words of the holy are atal, fixed and unshakable. Sabh meh paragtaa-i-aa means everyone can see this.

Think of a friend who tells you the truth even when it is hard to hear. Their words do not bend to please you. Years later, you find they were right all along.

Jis jan ho-aa saadhsang tis bhaytai har raa-i-aa means whoever joins the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — meets Har Raa-i-aa, the Sovereign One who rules over all. The Sangat is the meeting place. It is where the One is found.

A Question to Sit With

Whose advice do you trust to be true even when it is hard to hear?
