Remember, and Don't Delay

ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਮਤ ਬਿਲਮ ਕਰੇਹ ॥

Meditate, meditate in remembrance with each and every breath - do not delay!

chhod parpanch parabh si-o rachahu taj koorhay nayh. ||2||
Renounce worldly affairs, and merge yourself into God; forsake false loves. ||2||

In plain words

Keep the One in mind with every breath — there is no reason to put it off till later.

Let go of the tangles and the loves that cannot hold you, and lean into the One who can. Now is the time.

Hold onto what matters most, starting today.
The deeper layer

Remember the One with every breath, and start now.

Simrahu simrahu saas saas mat bilam karayh means remember, remember, with each breath; do not delay. Simran means keeping the One in mind. The line sounds urgent, but it is really an invitation. It is like a friend at the door saying, "Come on, the game is starting!"

Chhod parpanch parabh si-o rachahu taj koorhay nayh means let go of the tangles, and blend yourself into God. Parpanch is the busy, tangled show of the world. Koorhay nayh are false loves, the kind that cannot hold you. Set those down, and lean into what is true.

A Question to Sit With

What is something good you keep meaning to do that you could start today?
