Who Can Fathom What You Do?

ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੂ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਾਮਾਂ ॥

Says Nanak, You are the True Lord and Master; who can know Your actions?

Some are blessed with glory in their own homes, while others wander in doubt and pride. ||4||3||

In plain words

Nanak says: You are the True One — who could ever fully understand the things You do?

To some You give a quiet greatness right where they live; others keep wandering, tangled in doubt and pride. It is all a mystery held in Your hands.

The One's ways are a mystery too big to fully grasp — and that is a kind of peace.
The deeper layer

Understanding has a limit here, and that limit carries no fear. The contrast — some at home in greatness, some wandering in abhimaan (pride) — describes states of heart, not a verdict; pride here is the disease that keeps a person circling.

A Question to Sit With

What is something wonderful that you enjoy even though you cannot fully explain it?
