Chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, doubt and delusions are dispelled. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Out of a deep awe of the One, love and devotion well up, and inside there is a great calm.

Keeping the Name in mind, the fog of doubt and confusion clears away.

Awe of the One opens you into love.
The deeper layer

Bhai tay upjai bhagat — here bhai is reverent awe, not terror; from that awe devotion rises; antar ho-ay saant — inner peace; naam japat govind kaa, binsai bharam bharaant — doubt clearing. Awe opens into love and calm.

A Question to Sit With

What fills you with awe in a way that makes you feel bigger, not smaller?
