In plain words

The ropes and traps of illusion snap apart when you lovingly hold the Name of the One in your heart.

My mind was completely charmed by the teacher, the one who enchants; the moment I truly saw, I was struck with wonder.

The traps that hold you dissolve not when you fight them but when you fall in love with something truer.
The deeper layer

This one says: love, not a fight, is what sets you free.

The verse speaks of the ropes and traps of Maya. Maya means whatever makes you forget the One and feel alone and separate. It is not money, or the world itself. But its grip is real, like ropes around your wrists.

These ropes are made of forgetting. So they fall away when remembering comes back. You don't have to fight your way out. har raam naam liv laage — lovingly holding the Name is what loosens them. Think of a child gripping a toy who won't let go. Then a friend calls them out to play, and their hand opens all by itself.

The second line is pure Vismaad, which means wonder. The Guru is called mohan, the Enchanter. "My mind is charmed," the verse says, "and I am struck with wonder." Again and again in this raag (musical mood), the One is described as beautiful. It is a beauty that pulls the heart free.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever been so amazed by something beautiful that you forgot to be worried?
