Sikhism·Raag Devgandhaari·Shabad 40
Verse 2 of 3

Know that there is One and only One Lord.

kaahe bhramat hau tum bhramahu na bhaiee raviaa re raviaa srab thaan ||1||
Why are you wandering around? O Siblings of Destiny, don't wander around; He is permeating and pervading everywhere. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Why wander around? Friends, don't wander — it fills and pervades everywhere.

Why run around searching everywhere? The One is already right here, wherever you are — you don't have to travel to find what never left your side.
The deeper layer

A single-line verse with a gentle scold and a great comfort: "why are you wandering around?" If the One "is permeating and pervading everywhere," then all the searching elsewhere is unnecessary — you are looking for what is already here, wherever "here" is. The wandering (physical pilgrimage, restless seeking, spiritual tourism) assumes the One is somewhere you are not. But there is no such somewhere. This lands the omnipresence of the previous shabads as a practical instruction: stop running around looking; the thing you seek is present exactly where you already are. Settle, and notice.

A Question to Sit With

If what you're looking for is everywhere, including right where you stand, does it make sense to keep running around to find it?
