Verse 5 of 14

One True Reality, No Other

ਸਰਬੰ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
sarbaN saachaa ayk hai doojaa naahee ko-ay.
In all the world, there is only the One True Lord; there is no other at all.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੩॥
taa kee sayvaa so karay jaa ka-o nadar karay. ||3||
He alone serves the Lord, upon whom the Lord casts His Glance of Grace. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In all the world there is only the One, real and true, and no other at all.

And only the one whom the One's kind Glance has touched can serve the One. That Glance is grace, always here, waiting only to be noticed.

There is one reality, and its kindness reaches you before you even try.
The deeper layer

There is only one Truth, and its kindness reaches us first.

SarbaN saachaa ayk hai doojaa naahee ko-ay — in everything there is one Truth, and no second. This is Ik, oneness itself, said plainly.

Nadar means the Glance of Grace, the One's kind look. Notice the order in the verse. Serving does not earn the Glance. The Glance comes first, and it makes the serving possible. It is like a coach who picks you for the team before you have scored a single goal. Grace always comes first.
