The One reached out and drew me close, wrapping me in kindness like holding the edge of a warm cloak.
I came with empty hands, nothing to offer, and the One — endless and beyond my understanding — welcomed me anyway.
That's what the One is like: always kind, lifting up exactly those the world pushes down.
Every living being rests in the One's care. The One makes everything, lives inside everything, and watches over everything. Nanak prays: singing the One's praises is what makes me feel alive.
The One lifts up exactly those the world puts last.
Neech thaapanhaari-aa — the One who raises up the lowly. The One lifts precisely those the world ranks last. It is like a coach who picks the kid always chosen last and says, "You're with me." This thread comes back again and again.
Aap kartaa aap bhugtaa — the One is the Maker, and also the One who enjoys life from inside every being. The One is also the One who thinks about all. So oneness is seen from every side.
Larh laa-ay — tied to the hem of the robe. It is a picture of being kept gently close.
Who around you gets overlooked, and how could you help lift them up?
