What All the Seekers Long to See

ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਸਗਲ ਮੁਨਿ ਚਾਹਹਿ ਬਿਰਲੇ ਕਾਹੂ ਡੀਠੁਲਾ ॥
saaDhik siDh sagal mun chaaheh birlay kaahoo deethulaa.
All the seekers, Siddhas and silent sages seek Him, but only a rare few behold Him.
ਸਗਲ ਭਵਣ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਾਲਹਾ ਤਿਉ ਨਾਮੇ ਮਨਿ ਬੀਠੁਲਾ ॥੫॥੩॥
sagal bhavan tayro naam baalhaa ti-o naamay man beethulaa. ||5||3||
Just as Your Name is dear to all the Universe, so is the Lord dear to Naam Dayv's mind. ||5||3||

In plain words

All the searchers and wise ones look and look for the One — yet only a rare few see.

But here is the wonder: the One's Name is precious to the whole universe, every corner of it. And that same One, whom everything longs for, is the dearest thing in my own small heart too.

The One that the whole universe longs for is also the dearest thing in one small heart.
The deeper layer

The One the whole universe longs for is also the dearest thing in one small heart.

SaaDhik siDh sagal mun chaaheh birlay kaahoo deethulaa: all the seekers, the siDh (people of great spiritual power) and the silent sages long for the One, but only a birlaa, a rare one, truly sees. Sagal bhavan tayro naam baalhaa: Your Name is dear to the whole universe.

Ti-o naamay man beethulaa: and so Beethal is dear to Namdev's mind. Beethal, or Vithal, is the name Namdev used for the One. It is one of the many names for the single reality. Think of a song people sing all over the world. It can still feel as if it was written just for you.

A Question to Sit With

Isn't it amazing that the biggest thing of all can also feel personal and close?
