In plain words

Picture the very beginning: lotus flowers opening across a wild green world, and from them, one by one, all the bright swan-souls of every living thing coming to life.

And all of it — every creature, every leaf — is the One dancing. Creation is a dance, and the One is dancing it.

Creation is a dance, and the One is dancing it.
The deeper layer

The whole world began like flowers opening, and all of it is the One's dance.

This shabad by Bhagat Namdev paints a picture of how everything began. Pahil puree-ay pundrak vanaa — first, lotuses, pundrak, bloomed across the woods. Taa chay hansaa saglay janaa — from them came all the hans, the swan-souls, every living being.

Har har naachantee naachnaa — all of it is the One's dance. Think of a stage full of dancers moving to one song. Every creature and every leaf is part of that one dance.

The verse names Krishna as the dancer. Here Krishna is the One who has no shape, seen in a much-loved form.

A Question to Sit With

If everything alive is part of one dance, what does that make you?
