In plain words

You are gentle with the small and the overlooked, and You quietly undo the puffed-up pride that makes people forget each other.

So this is where I choose to stand: at Your feet, safe in Your care, giving my whole self to You with all my love.

The One is gentle with the small and quietly undoes the proud.
The deeper layer

The One is gentle with the small and quietly brings down pride.

Deen kaa da-i-aal maaDhou garab parhaaree: the Lord is da-i-aal, kind, to the deen, the meek and overlooked, and is garab parhaaree, the one who brings down pride. Think of a teacher who notices the quiet kid at the back of the class, and gently calms the show-off.

Charan saran naamaa bal tihaaree: Namdev takes shelter at Your feet. Bal tihaaree means "I give myself to You," a full and loving offering of the self. The shabad ends on the note these devotees sound again and again: mercy for the lowly, and pride brought low.

A Question to Sit With

How would the world change if being gentle with the overlooked was seen as true strength?
