In plain words

Here is what I would love, plain and simple: some lentils, flour, and ghee, so there is a good warm meal. That alone would keep my heart glad every day.

And maybe some sturdy shoes, nice clothes to wear, and good grain in the store-room. I am not shy about asking — You are the One who gives, so I bring You my everyday wishes, big and small.

Nothing in your life is too ordinary to bring to the One.
The deeper layer

daal seedhaa maaga-o ghee-o — Dhannaa asks, disarmingly, for lentils, flour, and ghee, then shoes, clothes, and grain. Far from crude, the list is a picture of total, childlike trust: nothing is too ordinary to bring to the One. The farmer's honest wants become a form of intimacy.

A Question to Sit With

What small, everyday thing would you feel comfortable asking for help with?
