Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
And while I am asking: a milk cow and a buffalo would be wonderful, and a fine, strong horse too. Good, useful gifts for a working life.
And a loving partner to share my home and make it warm. Your servant Dhannaa lays it all out plainly and asks, trusting You to give what is good.
You can bring your whole ordinary life to the One, exactly as it is.
ga-oo bhais... taajan turee... ghar kee geehan changee — the cow, the buffalo, the fine horse, and a good companion for the home. Dhannaa layvai mangee — simply asks and receives. Devotion can be plain and homely; the humblest household wishes are voiced to the One as to family.
A Question to Sit With
Does it change how you hope or pray if you picture the One as close as family?
