Cooling The Fire Of Endless Wanting

ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥

He finds the True Mansion of the Lord's Presence, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

In plain words

Whoever cools the fire of lies, deceit, and endless wanting finds calm, ease, and joy inside.

Walking in tune with the Guru's way, the ego dissolves.

Singing the One's praises, one comes home to the true Presence.

Cool the fire of always wanting more, and peace moves in.
The deeper layer

Cooling the fire of always wanting more lets peace move in.

Koorh kusat trisnaa agan bujhaa-ay — put out the fire of falseness, tricks, and trisnaa, the craving that never stops. Think of how a "just one more" game can keep you playing long past bedtime. When that fire cools, a person finds saaNt sahj sukh: calm, ease, and joy inside.

Gur kai bhaanai chalai taa aap jaa-ay — walk in tune with the Guru's way, and the grabbing self melts away. Singing the One's praises, a person reaches saach mahal, the true Mansion. That means the felt Presence of the One, like coming home.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you can do when a want feels like it is burning you up?
