Sikhism·Raag Dhanaasaree·Shabad 15
Verse 4 of 4

The True One Plants Truth Within

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
sabh kichh saachaa saachaa hai so-ay.
The True Lord is everything; He is True.
ਊਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
ootam barahm pachhaanai ko-ay.
Only a few realize the exalted Lord God.
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਆਪਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
sach saachaa sach aap drirh-aa-ay.
He is the Truest of the True; He Himself implants the True Name within.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਏ ॥੪॥੭॥
naanak aapay vaykhai aapay sach laa-ay. ||4||7||
O Nanak, the Lord Himself sees all; He Himself links us to the Truth. ||4||7||

In plain words

Everything, at its root, is the One who is true.

Only a few come to see this clearly. The True One plants what is real inside a person, watches over everyone, and gently links each heart back to the truth.

The truth you are looking for is already planting itself inside you.
The deeper layer

The truth you are looking for is already being planted inside you.

This verse closes the shabad. It rests in Sach, Truth, the Real that lies under everything. Sabh kichh saachaa saachaa hai so-ay — everything is the True One.

Sach saachaa sach aap drirh-aa-ay — the One plants Truth inside a person, like a gardener putting a seed deep in the soil. Naanak aapay vaykhai aapay sach laa-ay — the same One watches over all and joins us to the Truth. Growing is not something we build all on our own. We are drawn toward it, the way a plant turns toward the sun.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever realized something true that felt like it had been waiting inside you all along?
