Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The shutters that kept my mind dark and doubtful have swung wide open, and light pours in.

Now a true love fills me from the inside, and my whole heart is at rest with the teacher.

When doubt's shutters open, love and light come in together.
The deeper layer

When doubt opens up, light and love come in together.

This verse closes the shabad. Bharam pat khoolHay — the shutters of bharam, doubt, have swung open. It is like opening the curtains on a sunny morning. Gur parsaadee jaani-aa — through the Guru's grace, a person comes to know.

Saachee liv laagee hai bheetar — true love is lit inside. Satgur si-o man maani-aa — the mind rests in the true Guru. This is mannai, acceptance: living from the truth, not just nodding along to it.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you were unsure about, until one day it suddenly made sense?
