Those who are blessed with the highest, loftiest destiny, chant and meditate on the Lord.

Let me join their congregation, O God, my Lord and Master; Nanak is the slave of their slaves. ||4||3||

In plain words

The ones with the highest, brightest fortune keep the One in mind.

My Master, bring me into the Sangat with them — I would gladly be the servant of their servants.

A place in the Sangat is a fortune in itself.
The deeper layer

The lucky ones keep the One in mind, and a place beside them is worth asking for.

Jin kay vaday bhaag... tin har japi-o — those with great fortune remember the One. Here bhaag, fortune, is not luck you win against others. It means being open to grace, which is always around us. Grace is like sunlight: any open window can let it in.

The last prayer is sangat mayl: bring me into the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Then daas dasaanee — let me be a servant of their servants. Belonging and humility have the last word.

A Question to Sit With

What group of people are you glad to belong to, and why?
