Those Who Remember Become Like the One

har kay sant japahu har japnaa har sant chalai har naalee.
O Saints of the Lord, chant the chant of the Lord's Name; the Lord's Saints walk with the Lord.
jin har japi-aa say har ho-ay har mili-aa kayl kaylaalee. ||3||
Those who meditate on the Lord, become the Lord; the playful, wondrous Lord meets them. ||3||

In plain words

Keep the One in mind — the ones who remember walk alongside the One.

Those who hold the One close come to shine with the One, and the playful, wonderful One comes to meet them.

You slowly become like whatever you keep closest in your heart.
The deeper layer

We grow into what we keep in mind, and the One comes to meet us with joy.

Jin har japi-aa say har ho-ay — those who remember the One become like the One. It is a striking line. What we hold in mind shapes us. It is like the way you start to talk like your best friend after spending lots of time together.

Kayl kaylaalee — the playful, joyful One. This fills the meeting with delight. The One is not stern and far away. The One comes close, full of fun.

A Question to Sit With

Who or what do you spend the most time thinking about — and how is it shaping you?
